How long has AcuTrans been in business?

We make an effort to provide affordable transcription services for all our clients. All you need is a computer with a connection to the internet, and the means to have your recording or statements processed in a digital format. If you are having trouble finding an affordable digital recording device, feel free to contact us and we will do our best to provide you with a cost effective digital solution.

Because you get more than transcription when you sign on with AcuTrans, there may be some added costs. Transcription pricing is found below while the price for system usage can be found on this page.

Is there any difference in quality between medical transcription in India and transcription processed in the U.S.?


Yes. We work hard with our transcriptionists, whether they be in India or the U.S., to provide the highest quality transcription available, but quality from India is on average lower, especially due to the differences in name spellings and speaking tendencies.

If you have ever changed transcription services before, you know that there is a learning curve. AcuTrans requests that each client provide regular feedback within the first two weeks while the transcriptionists learn the details of your account. We recommend that the Doctor, Secretary, or Office Manager review the documents received, make notations on the printed documents and fax your corrections to us. We understand that it may take some time to do this, but it will save you considerable time in the future. Whether you select the domestic or offshore option, regular feedback for these initial two weeks will usually curtail any problems with quality for either option. Periodically faxing in any spelling mistakes or common problems after the two weeks will insure quality transcription and a well-trained MT for years to come. Can you tell me more about digital recording options?


Digital recorders come in many shapes, sizes, and prices. The price range is anywhere from thirty to forty dollars to hundreds of dollars. However, more important than price is the quality and functionality of the device.

We recommend the Olympus Digital Recorders, but any digital recorder that allows you to save an digital audio file to your hard drive should be fine. One of the reasons we encourage our clients to use the Olympus Professional Dictation recorders is because it will save the audio in a .dss format which is smaller and easier to transfer than most other audio formats.

If you have a digital recorder preference, let us know what kind of recorder you use and what audio format you plan to upload your files in by emailing us a sample, so we can determine if your audio file type will work as is, or if we need to adjust our systems to accommodate. This will help us plan accordingly for your account. If you are having difficulty finding an affordable recording device, contact us and we will help you find a cost effective recorder.

What kind of turnaround time should I expect?


Turn around time varies per industry. Normal turnaround time for Medical transcription is less than 2 business days and most other industries find that a 3 to 4 business day turnaround time is acceptable. We can meet the turn around standards for your transcription needs. Contact us if you have any questions, or special requests concerning a quick turnaround time.

How do I know when work has been completed?


We can set up your account so the server will e-mail you when files has been completed. This option can be turned on or off at anytime, just let us know your preference, and we can change your profile accordingly.

What if I need some files turned around quicker than others?


We understand that some files may be more time sensitive than others, and also offer an option to expedite important files. Expedited files will be given priority and your transcriptionist will be made aware automatically via our online system. Expedited files do incur an extra charge. Please contact us if you have any questions concerning the option to expedite documents.

How do I access my records?


It is as easy as logging in to our website using your username and password. One of the great benefits of an online transcription service, is that you can access your records from anywhere. Whether you are at home, in the office, or in a meeting, as long as you have internet access you have access to your records.

Can I really upload my recordings from anywhere?


Yes. As long as you have internet access you can upload your audio files. You can also be assured that your sensitive information will be protected via a secure system, whether you upload from the office, at home, or on the go.

What if I already have a transcriptionist that I use, but I would enjoy the flexibility and security of an online document management system?

This is not a problem. We are able set up an account that your typists can use, while allowing you the advantages of an online document management system. For this service we charge by megabytes used.

Call us at (801) 356-0407, and we can send out a representative or set up an account for you over the phone. If you already have a digital recording device, we can have you uploading and receiving quality transcription within a matter of minutes.

After receiving your username and password, you will be able to log in to your account and start uploading. The uploading process is as easy as drag and drop. Learning to use the system is not difficult and most actions are accompanied by a user friendly icon, with online pop-up instructions, which will help you get up and running more quickly. You will also have the ability to organize your files and place them in separate folders, whether you like to organize in weeks, months, patients, types of injury and so on.
